Nnamdi Kanu Discontinues Human Rights Suit Against Buhari Govt

The detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has discontinued the human rights suit against the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

Naija News recalls that Kanu, through his special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, had filed an N20 billion human rights suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1702/222 against the Federal Government.

The suit, dated and filed on September 23, listed the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, (SAN), and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar, as 1st and 2nd defendants respectively.

Ejimakor challenged the manner of Kanu’s arrest in Kenya, and also called his continued incarceration a violation of human rights.

However, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had fixed Friday, November 18 for the hearing of the suit.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Thursday, Ejimakor said the IPOB leader has discontinued the suit. He, however, failed to state the reason for discontinuing the case.

“The Kenyan case is set for Feb 2023 (sad),” Ejimakor wrote via his Twitter handle.
