2023: Nigerians Are Not Interested In PDP Crisis - Ayu

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Iyorchia Ayu over his optimism that the PDP would win Lagos in the 2023 general election.

The Lagos APC said Nigerians stopped taking PDP seriously before now with its intransigent crisis which is a clear reflection of poor leadership and ability to manage its affairs.

Naija News reports that the spokesman for the APC in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, said the PDP and its national chairman could not lay claim to integrity and vision.

According to him, Lagos state has remained an impenetrable fortress for the PDP with its more than two decades of electoral abysmal performance.

Oladejo added that It’s certainly not enough to dream of winning a certain number of states, because the reality on the ground is in total contrast.

The Lagos APC’s reactions follow Ayu’s statement that because the APC flag bearer, Bola Tinubu had earlier prayed for the opposition during his campaign rally in Jos, the party would win in Lagos a stronghold of the APC.

Naija News recalled yesterday that Ayu said “Since you were inaugurated to help us handle the issue of reconciliation in Lagos and Osun and lately in Ekiti, you have done a very wonderful job.

“Firstly, regarding initial problems we had in the states you have helped us with interventions and recommendations to overcome some of these difficulties leading to the marvellous victory we have in Osun State.

“This is an achievement worth celebrating. Lagos is again looking very promising. PDP will have a governor in Lagos and several positions, the Senate, House of Assembly and so many other positions, and of course crown it with the massive victory of our presidential candidate.

“We defeated the Lion of Bourdillon in Osun and we want to finish a good job in his residence in Bourdillon. We can see that happening because we saw him shouting God bless PDP.”

However, the Lagos spokesperson in the party’s reaction noted that the reality of the ground is different from what the PDP thinks, adding that the incumbent governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has earned his place of pride and preference by well-meaning Lagosians.

Oladejo said “Nigerians stopped taking PDP seriously before now with its intransigent crisis which is a clear reflection of poor leadership and ability to manage its affairs. It’s certainly not enough to dream of winning a certain number of states, the reality on the ground is in total contrast. Lagos State remains an impenetrable fortress for PDP with its more than two decades of electoral abysmal performance. The incumbent governor has earned his place of pride and preference by well-meaning Lagosians to consolidate on the landmark achievements of the first term in the next tenure.”
