Female professional and commercial drivers would be encouraged with maximum support by the federal government, says the Minister of State for Transportation, Ademola Adegoroye.

Speaking from his Abuja office yesterday when he received the leadership of the Female Drivers Association of Nigeria (FEDAN), Adegoroye said his ministry would look into the challenges of the female drivers and ensure that they are given the necessary recognition.

A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the minister, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said female commercial drivers are unique and must be encouraged to help them flourish in their chosen profession.

Adegoroye further noted that the federal ministry of transportation would look into the request of the association to have female professional drivers employed in the ministry, stressing the need for government to give the needed recognition to female drivers.
