Super Eagles Coach, Peseiro Speaks On Osimhen Winning Ballon d'Or

The Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro, has revealed the team’s objective ahead of their international friendly match against Portugal on Thursday.

Following the release of footage showing the Selecao working diligently to prepare for the friendly encounter, the Portuguese team, captained by Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, is poised to play Nigeria.

In a Portuguese radio interview, Peseiro said that the Eagles will want to win the game while also attempting to control possession of the ball.

The three-time African champions have lost all 11 of their recent friendlies, but when they take on the Euro 2016 winners at Lisbon’s Estadio Jose Alvalade, they will want to break the unfortunate streak.

The 62-year-old tactician stated his objective was to prevent his side from losing by a huge margin before the highly anticipated encounter.

As quoted by tsf, he said “If we can’t win, let’s draw. If we can’t draw, let’s not lose by too many. That’s the goal,”

Peseiro remarked in reference to teams competing in the world cup event even if his team did not make it.

He said: “There is always the strategic side of the game; however, in my idea and in my head is the future, the next game.

“The games we want to play against the best teams. Otherwise, I could only play behind. I don’t know if Portugal will allow us and if we are going to be able to do what we want, but we want to play the game across the field and also have the ball because we have players with the quality and capacity for that.”
