2023: Ex-LG Chairman, Others Dump PDP In Oyo - [Photos]

The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost the membership of a former Local Government Area Chairman and other party members ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Naija News understands that the politicians were on Wednesday (today), led by the former council chairman of Saki East Local Government Area of the state, Engr. Dele Adesina, to renounce their membership of the state ruling party.

Adesina noted that he and thousands of his supporters from the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone have moved to Accord Party.

He announced this today during a visit by the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party, Adebayo Adelabu, to his (Adesina) Ago Amodu residence.

Naija News understands that Adelabu was accompanied by the Director-General of the party campaign council, Oloye Adegboyega Adegoke and other party chieftains.

Speaking after his reception at the Accord party, Adesina said he dumped PDP for Accord because of the popularity of the gubernatorial candidate.

In his remark, Adegoke expressed optimism that Accord would emerge victorious in the 2023 election.

He added that the party would ensure local government autonomy, encourage development at the grassroots level and improve the living conditions of the zone’s people when elected.

Meanwhile, the party chieftains took advantage of the event to pay homage to some traditional rulers in the Oke Ogun zone. Among those visited are the Alamodu of Ago Amodu, Oba Johnson Akinloye Olaoye and the Onibaasi of Baasi in Atisbo local government, Oba Azeez Babatunde.
