Joshua To Get A Title Chance If Usyk Snubs Fury Fight

If Usyk rejects the Fury fight, Joshua will have a chance at the title.

Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua, may be up next to challenge Filip Hrgovic for the world championship.

If the IBF champion, Oleksandr Usyk, chooses to give up his crown in order to challenge Tyson Fury for the WBC championship, Joshua will have the opportunity to challenge Hrgovic.

Naija News recalls that Usyk defeated Joshua for the IBF, WBA, WBO, and IBO belts.

The 33-year-old attempted to recapture the titles in their August rematch in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but was unsuccessful.

After suffering his third loss in his previous four fights, the British-Nigerian is now considering his options when a scheduled matchup with Tyson Fury fell through after negotiations were well along.

With Usyk attempting to defend the WBA, WBC, and WBO championships against Fury, there is now a chance that his next fight may be for a title.

The Ukrainian would therefore have to relinquish his IBF title, prompting the IBF’s top brass to schedule a fight between Hrgovic and Andy Ruiz to fill the empty belt.

However, Joshua would replace Ruiz if they were to fight, since Ruiz wants to square off against Deontay Wilder.
