British broadcaster, Pierce Morgan has revealed why Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo approached him for a controversial interview.

Naija News earlier reported that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner exposed his grievances after his transfer to Old Trafford which includes being “betrayed’ by the club according to him.

Ronaldo intended to concentrate the conversation on his problems at United and his tense relationship with Erik ten Hag, according to Morgan.

According to rumours, a whole segment of the journalist interview would be made public on Thursday night.

However, the Portuguese talisman’s brief statement to the public has elicited conflicting opinions from football experts, supporters, and the general public.

The Red Devils will be ready for more shocking remarks from Ronaldo in the expected complete tape after the initial snippets were shown on Sunday night, which infuriated the club and his own teammates.

While acknowledging his close connection with the Portuguese star, Morgan argued that Ronaldo’s connection with him gave him the push to agree to the interview.

Additionally, he justified the timing of the clip’s release, saying the five-time Ballon d’Or winner intended it to be released just before the World Cup in Qatar.

Morgan, while speaking to talkSPORTS, said, “Cristiano asked me to do it. Simple as that. I didn’t ask him, he asked me. He’s been thinking about this for a while, it’s no secret he has built up deep frustration about what has been happening at United,”

“He feels he has to speak out, he knows it will be incendiary, will rattle some changes, but he also feels he should be doing this. He knows people will criticize him but he also knows what he is saying is true,” he added.

Sometimes the truth hurts. He’s been thinking about this for a while and I got a call. The World Cup is about to start. It gives him a month away from United and it gives time for what he has said to settle in. He can come back and resolve things.

“He loves Manchester United and the fans, but what he has come,” said the broadcast journalist.
