Makinde: INEC Goes On Break Before Announcing Final Gov Election Result In Oyo State

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has alleged that plans by the opposition party in the state to attack some facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been concluded.

Makinde cautioned the electoral body, asking it to be on guard as information reaching him indicates that there are plans to attack INEC facilities in the state to disorient the people.

Naija News reports that the governor in a statement signed by the chairman of his campaign committee, Dotun Oyelade, told the opposition in the state that committing such crimes won’t stop them from losing.

Makinde’s revelation comes after a couple of INEC facilities has been continuously attacked, with the most recent one being the arson in one of its facility in Ogun state.

He advanced that “Having noticed the untoward and ignoble development of perpetrating arson against INEC facilities by unscrupulous elements in the society, we would like to warn the opposition in Oyo State not to even think of carrying out a such heinous crime, as it cannot save them from losing the forthcoming election.

“But if the opposition in Oyo State thinks it can copy that template to disorient the people and walk away scot-free with unmerited victory, then it must perish the thought, as such action will not be condoned in the State.

“It is also important to warn the electoral body, INEC, and security agencies in the State to be alert and on guard and to beef up security at all facilities where election-related materials are kept.”
