There are indications that stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are putting everything in place to resolve their crisis ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News had earlier reported that the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar on Friday met with the former military president, Ibrahim Babangida.

Atiku’s meeting with Babangida in Minna, Niger State may not be unconnected with the peace move with the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Governor Wike’s camp had vowed not to support the presidential ambition of the former vice president, unless the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu resigns from office.

The five aggrieved PDP Governors identified as the G-5 had condemned northern dominance in key positions in the party.

The Governors are Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State) and Samuel Ortom (Benue State).

The issue saw the Governors call for equity, justice and fairness in the party.

A source that spoke with the Nation on the crisis rocking the main opposition party said the aggrieved Governors may also visit Babangida soon.

The source said, “There is an ongoing move to end the face-off. Both parties have expressed willingness and stakeholders have decided to use the new opportunity well.

“That is why you can see that all hands and everybody that matters in PDP are now involved to make it work this time.

“We have told ourselves that it is unwise for us to allow the same thing that made us lose the presidency in 2015 to happen to us again when we can help it.”

Meanwhile, Governor Wike has expressed readiness to reconcile with Atiku if he agrees to the terms of equity in the party.

Wike stated this on Wednesday after he met with the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
