The Chief Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Festus Keyamo, has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its proposed plan to petition the National Peace Committee.

Naija News earlier reported that the Director of Strategic Communications of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dele Momodu, had said the party would formally petition the committee over the attack on the convoy of the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in Maiduguri, Borno State.

While addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Momodu said the PDP’s plans to report to the peace committee was because a peace accord was signed by most of the presidential candidates.

He added that the PDP was also preparing the evidence that would be presented to the committee and the Nigeria Police Force, saying that the attacks are threats to the lives of party members.

Reacting in a chat with The Punch on Thursday, Keyamo accused the opposition party of being confused, saying that the attack on Atiku’s convoy was caused by the PDP Itself.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment claimed that the incident in Maiduguri was the PDP factions fighting themselves

Keyamo, however, warned that no recognized law gave the peace committee any form of power to penalize or disqualify any candidate or party.

He said, “You know the PDP is factionalised in all the states of the federation and at the national level. The show of shame we saw in Maiduguri was the PDP factions fighting themselves. I am sure the whole of Nigeria saw it too on Wednesday.

“Now, they have G-5, G-1, G-3. Sometimes, we even wonder if the PDP spokesmen are speaking on behalf of the G-5 or G-1, or the candidate. We are not sure on whose behalf they speak again.”
