18-year-old Girl Follows Mother Instruction, Stabs New Born Baby To Death

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State has ordered the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) to investigate the murder of a newborn baby by his mother and grandmother.

Naija News understands that the mother of the child, one Ada Joy Okonkwo aged 18, and her mother, one Christiana Okonkwo of about 60 years old had conspired to murder the new born at Olocha-Adogba in Awgu community of Awgu L.G.A., on November 7.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe,  revealed that the mother had used a kitchen knife to stab the child to death moments after she was delivered of the baby at home.

Ada reportedly carried out the dire act under the instruction of her mother.

Ndukwe said the child was taken to the hospital and confirmed dead by the doctors on duty, while the corpse was deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The police PRO revealed that the state Commissioner of police had urged citizens of the community, particularly the women who carried out a peaceful demonstration to express their disgust over the act, to maintain peace, and avoid acts that could lead to the breakdown of law and order in the community.
