"The Squad Is Very Short" - Arteta Seeks For Reinforcement

Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that Arsenal needs to add more to their squad in the January transfer window following Brighton’s defeat.

The Spaniard made 10 changes from his usual team selection in their 3-1 defeat at Emirates stadium in their Carabao cup on Wednesday.

Naija News previously reported that the Gunners defeated Graham Potter’s men 1-0 in a London derby away from homein a Premier League clash.

The Manager left out the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and a host of others from his lineup against the Seagulls Albion for the Carabao Cup.

Arteta thinks reinforcements could be necessary in the window to maintain Arsenal’s dominant position given that they are now top of the league and moving on after winning their Europa League group.

“That’s the squad that we have,’ he replied when asked if the result showed the need to spend in the transfer market.

“We have to utilize in the best possible way and today we came short, especially because we didn’t do what we have to do in both boxes to win a football match. We paid that price.

“It’s the same squad as when we win. I said from day one that we have a short squad because at the end we left some players. It’s what we have.

“We know as well that we have certain injuries, and the squad is very, very short. We have tried to manage that in the best possible situation. It’s the same when we win a football match so no excuses.” The Spaniard said.
