2023: You're One Of The Finest Presidential Candidates – Ortom Tells Peter Obi

The former lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, on Tuesday, said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has the capacity to end insecurity in Nigeria.

The spokesperson of the PDP presidential campaign council stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He called on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to back the PDP candidate to end the insecurity in the North-Central state.

Recall that Ortom had said “to hell with Atiku” on Sunday night when he hosted the party’s G-5 Governors comprising Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) in Government House, Makurdi.

The governor said he would not support Atiku, who is not concerned about the continuous killings of the Benue people.

The Benue State Governor, while lamenting the killing of people in his local government last week, said, “to hell with Atiku and anyone supporting him.”

He noted that anyone supporting the presidential ambition of Atiku in 2023 is an enemy of Benue State.

But Melaye, during the interview, said it was insensitive to blame Atiku for crimes committed by people of Fulani origin in the north.

Describing Atiku as a unifier, the PDP chieftain described Ortom’s statement against the PDP presidential candidate as unfortunate.

Meanwhile, when he was asked about the chances of the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in next year’s election, Melaye said the Labour Party “is like Andrew Liver Salt” that initially produces many bubbles but later fades away.

According to the former lawmaker, Peter Obi stands no chance against Atiku in the presidential election.
