One Way: Soldiers Beat Policeman And LATSMA Officer For Ordering Them To Turn Back

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed an attack on a policeman and an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) by some soldiers of the Nigerian Army.

The incident which happened along the Eko Bridge in the state witnessed the beating of a policeman and LASTMA officer for ordering the soldiers to turn back and take the right lane.

Naija News gathered that the soldiers were moving against traffic when the policeman and the LASTMA official stopped their vehicle and asked them to turn around and do the right thing.

However, things got heated up and the soldiers, who refused to obey the order beat both officers up.

It was also learnt that a different group of soldiers on the right lane of the road joined their colleagues in beating the officers when they met the incident.

It is reported that calm has been restored and the officers are receiving treatment at the hospital, while both parties have apologized to each other.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident said it was true that the officers were attacked but the case has been resolved.

Hundeyin submitted that “Yes the incident happened this morning (Wednesday) along Eko bridge.

“Everything is fine now and our man is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Both parties have apologized to each other and there is no cause for alarm. The situation is under control.

“The Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos State will continue to co-exist in harmony.”
