The Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, has said members of the G-5 group will still work for the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News reports that the G-5 group includes: Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Benue State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

The aggrieved governors have been calling for the removal or resignation of the PDP Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, vowing not to back Atiku until their demands are met.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Dino Melaye noted that: “All the five governors said Ayu should resign. They portrayed Ayu as their basic problem.

They said Ayu should but one of them have come out to say he will not support Atiku. That is what Ortom said. So you now know that the problem now is that even if Ayu leaves today, Ortom will not still support Atiku.”

Melaye accused the five aggrieved governors of making Ayu the PDP national chairman without Atiku’s consent or approval, categorically stating that Wike is responsible for the emergence of Ayu as chairman, while Ortom was the guarantor.

“Ayu is their product, that is why there was no contention and he was the sole candidate for the position of chairman.

“By the time Ayu was coming were they thinking Ayu is from Abia or Enugu State or Ogbomoso. They knew Ayu is from the Northern part of the country.

“I will not want anybody to hinge their complain, because Ayu is not Atiku’s son that he will say ‘go and sit down,’ for you to say Atiku should take panadol or another person’s headache shows an insincerity of purpose.”

“Above all and by the grace of God, we may not get everybody together but some of them are still going to work for their party,” Dino Melaye said.
