Tension As Explosion Rocks Onitsha Market

There was tension in Anambra State on Tuesday (today) after a heavy explosion occurred at a Chemical Market in Onitsha.

Reports reaching Naija News claimed that goods worth millions of Naira were destroyed due to the explosion that gutted buildings in the market in Onitsha Head Bridge.

Many people are trapped in the fire, which reportedly started at about 12:10 pm on Tuesday.

While reports about the incident are still sketchy, it was revealed that the fire started when chemicals stored in some shops started exploding one after another.

Scores of people were also said to be injured as the chemicals were escaping at different angles, hitting people.

The men of the Anambra and Delta state fire service are on the ground battling to put off the fire.
