IPOB Speaks On Sit-at-home As APC Cancels Monday Campaigns In S/East

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said it is not against political rallies in the South-East, stressing that it had cancelled the Monday sit-at-home.

Recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had earlier rescheduled its campaign in the zone after initially fixing its South-East campaign for Monday.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said the group is not interested in Nigerian elections.

According to the Nnamdi Kanu-led pro-Biafran group, there is no threat to any political party holding its campaign rally across the South-East on a Monday.

Powerful said that political parties should be aware of the insecurity in the South-East before embarking on any campaign rally, adding that political parties and opponents always clash with themselves during campaigns and that when such occurs, no one should point accusing fingers at IPOB.

He said, “No threat whatsoever because we have cancelled the non-existent Monday sit-at-home order since, but what the political parties should know is that there is insecurity in the South-East and nobody should blame IPOB for any eventuality.

“IPOB is not interested in their jamboree selection process called Nigerian election.

“They are free to do their campaign but what we will not accept is a situation where they will clash with their political opponents and they will now blame it on IPOB.”

Naija News reported that the APC Presidential Campaign Council had earlier said Tinubu will hold a campaign rally and a stakeholders’ engagement in Imo State on Monday, November, 21.

While on Monday, January 30, the campaign train will move to Anambra, the home state of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.

The decision of the APC and Tinubu to hold their presidential campaigns on Mondays goes against the sit-at-home order issued by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East.

In a revised campaign timetable released by the campaign council on Friday night, the rally and zonal stakeholders’ meeting earlier scheduled to hold in Imo state on Monday, November 21, was shifted to Tuesday.

While the rally scheduled to hold in Anambra state on Monday, January 30, was also moved to Tuesday.

However, in a chat with The Punch, a source in the APC campaign council said the dates for the campaign rallies scheduled to hold in Imo and Anambra states have been shifted.
