JUST IN: Obasanjo Reveals Only Nigerian Pastor That Will Make Heaven

The Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said the image of former President Olusegun Obasanjo deserves to be one of the faces on the new naira note the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is designing.

Naija News reports that the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, made this known in an interview with The Punch.

Ogbonnia stated that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should consider using the image of the former President on one of the new naira notes for his efforts at making the country and Africa better.

He described Obasanjo as a moral edifice, that governed the country with an appreciable level of equity, fairness, and ethnic sensibility.

The Ohanaeze scribe argued that the former President remains the conscience of not just the nation but the entire continent, stressing that he deserves national recognition of the Nigerian currency.

He said, “Chief Olusegun Obasanjo deserves national recognition on the Nigerian currency. He is a moral edifice who governed the country with an appreciable level of equity, fairness, and ethnic sensibility.

“The governance structures across Nigeria are dotted with his accomplishments. Obasanjo remains the conscience of not just the nation but entire Africa.”

Obasanjo Definitely Deserves To Be Honoured – PANDEF

Also reacting to the development, the National Publicity Secretary of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Ken Robinson, said Obasanjo definitely deserves to have his image on one of the notes of the nation’s currency.

He said: “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo definitely deserves to have his image on one of the notes of the nation’s currency. It is very right.

“We will also say that he is one of the elder statesmen who have consistently, from the 60s to date, promote the unity, stability, and oneness of Nigeria and should also be honoured in terms of being put on the naira note; (and this includes) someone like chief Edwin Clark.”
