2023: Thugs May Hijack Political Campaigns – DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS) warned on Friday warned ahead of the of 2023 general elections that hoodlums may hijack political campaigns across the country.

The security agency said while it is brazing up for the possible disruption, the citizens also must help security operatives identify the bad eggs in their communities.

Naija News understands that the observation was raised on Friday by the DSS Director in Kaduna, Abdul Enachie.

Enachie spoke today during his presentation of a report on the security situation for the 2nd and 3rd Quarters in the state.

The director urged the government to ahead of the 2023 polls, ensure serious sensitization of the youths against allowing themselves to be used as thugs in the state and other parts of the country.

Enachie also urged the people to help the security agencies to fish out informants that are aiding the bandits and terrorists across the state and country.

The DSS boss stressed that identifying informants is not the job of security agencies alone, adding everyone ought to participate in identifying informants in communities.

He also urged the military to sustain their operations against the terrorists in areas like Birnin Gwari and other flashpoints.

Enachie at the end of his presentation, urged the Federal Government to complete the Kaduna-Abuja highway and Birnin Gwari highway, saying this will help improve the security situation on the roads.

In his remarks, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-rufai urged the security agencies to ensure that all political actors working with thugs are profiled and prosecuted before the general elections.
