Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has rolled out a warning sign on his team’s academy players who are not patient to fight for their position.

The Spaniard, while speaking to journalist initially saluted Rico Lewis performance against Sevilla during their champions league victory.

He however insisted that if some youngsters cannot be patient to make the first team regular shirt, they can leave the club.

This conversation followed Lewis performance as he scored to become the youngest player to score on his Champions League debut.

Guardiola revealed that the 17-year-old has something special to offer the football world in some years to come.

“I’ve always said that the academy here has worked amazingly. Since Jadon Sancho, Brahim Diaz, Phil Foden, James McAtee and Cole Palmer, there are so many talented players,” he said.

“The boys who want to stay here and fight for their position, they have a chance. If they are not patient and they listen to the agents more than the future here, they can leave,” the Spaniard stressed.

Lewis capitalised on Julian Alvarez’s through pass to score the equaliser in the Champions League match at the Etihad Stadium. As a result, Lewis, who was only 17 years and 347 days old, became City’s youngest Champions League goal scorer.
