Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has cleared the air on why he didn’t post any condolence message on his social media page to grieve the death of Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of singer Davido and Chioma, his fiancee.

According to the controversial singer, he has never promoted Davido’s accomplishments on his page, hence Ifeanyi’s death shouldn’t be the first thing he will post on his Instagram page about the singer.

Naija News reports that Kuti said instead of posting, he will prefer to visit Davido at his residence to express his sympathy.

He noted that he has never instructed anyone on how to mourn for anyone, so no one should tell him how to grieve.

He added that he didn’t tell anyone not to mourn Ifeanyi, others should no longer be told how to mourn.

He said it is not his nature to ‘publicly grieve the loss of someone.

His reaction follows complaints from followers on his Instagram page who had bashed him for not posting to mourn with the singer on Tuesday morning when Nigerians woke up to the shock of his son’s death.

Followers had described his silence as an act of a cold heart.

Kuti rather posted a screenshot of a report that read: “Over one in ten children in Nigeria die before their fifth birthday due to acute hunger-Report.”

In his comment section, several Instagram users described Kuti’s silence as inappropriate, while Nigerians grieve the loss of Davido’s son.

Big birds’ as he is called on Instagram explained in a video post that he wasn’t required to post about the boy to express his grief.

Ifeanyi was confirmed dead by the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday after he drowned in the family’s swimming pool at the banana island residence of the singer in the state.

Little Adeleke had drowned Monday night and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital where he was rushed after the incident.

Since the incident, Nigerians from various quarters have sent condolences to the Adeleke family over the death of their little son.
