Rashford's Header Seals An Hard-Fought Victory Against Westham

Manchester United defeated West Ham at home on Sunday thanks to a header from Marcus Rashford.

The forward marked his 100th goal for the Red Devils by scoring a goal with a powerful header to beat the Hammers.

Christian Eriksen’s sublime far-post cross, which was curled over seven minutes from the interval, made Rashford the 22nd player to score 100 goals for the club.

Rashford who came through United’s youth development also provided a fitting tribute to a special 85th anniversary for the Old Trafford club.

Since 1937, per BBC, United has played 4,163 straight games with a player from their youth development programme either starting or benching them. This streak has never been broken.

The best of the current crop, Rashford, scored the game-winning goal at Old Trafford against a tenacious West Ham team.

As a result of Antony’s injury, Cristiano Ronaldo also featured, but despite being given the opportunity to start, the Portuguese player missed one superb second-half opportunity after being sent running into the goal area by Rashford.

David Moyes’s men had their chance, but De Gea’s outstanding saves denied Michail Antonio, Kurt Zouma and Declan Rice’s thunderous effort with the last play of the game.

The Victory at Old Trafford has helped Erik Ten Hag’s men extend their unbeaten run to eight matches and go fifth in the league standings, while West Ham sits at the 13th place of table with three points above relegation zone
