EPL: Odegaard Nets Fifth To Send Arsenal Back To The Top

Arsenal thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday to earn their tenth victory this season.

Mikel Arteta’s team dropped points after losing to PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League and drawing with Southampton in the League, but they bounced back with an outstanding performance against Nottingham Forest.

Early in the second half, Reis Nelson, who had replaced Arsenal’s star player, Bukayo Saka, took the game away from the Forest team.

While Gabriel Martinelli had given Arsenal the lead earlier on, Gabriel Jesus had the option to go alone, but generously and shrewdly passed the ball to Nelson.

Dean Henderson made a strong save on his first attempt, but when the rebound fell to him, the English man skillfully switched positions and skillfully angled his second attempt into the far top corner.

Another set-up by Jesus led to his second goal. Nelson raced in on Jesus’ right-side low cross after Martin Odegaard had passed the ball back to the striker, and Nelson scored.

Thomas Partey received a pass from Nelson inside the box and scored the fourth goal with a powerful outside-the-box shot that Henderson was powerless to stop.

As Partey passed the ball to Jesus, who then slipped another deft pass to his captain to complete a fine victory for Mikel Arteta’s team, Odegaard extended the score to five with 12 seconds remaining.

The Gunners are now back at the top of the league table with two points ahead of Manchester City.
