Peter Obi's Camp Reacts As Tinubu Tells Tribunal He Is Not A Valid Member Of The Labour Party

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has refuted claims that he knew about the killings of innocent citizens by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Awkuzu in Anambra State, during his tenure as the Governor of the State.

Naija News reports that some critics of the LP Presidenial candidate had blamed him for the killings and torture carried out by the now-disbanded police outfit in the South East state.

During an appearance on a programme on Arise News on Monday, Obi said the police outfit was already in the state before he became the governor and he had no control over its mode of operations during his tenure.

He said the activities of Awkuzu SARS was controlled by the Federal Government and not the state governments.

The Awkuzu SARS was there before I became a Governor. It was a police formation that used to be controlled by the Federal Government. It was like when someone said that I ordered people to arrest him, I was not the police; I was the Governor”, he said.
