PDP Crisis: Goodluck If You Think You Can Win Without G5 Governors, Bode George Tells Atiku

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olabode George, has advised political parties to suspend their campaigns to honor flood victims across the country.

The former PDP Deputy National Chairman called on his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and other political parties to suspend their campaigns and emulate the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Naija News reports that the PDP chieftain made the call while speaking in an interview with Sunday Politics on Channels TV on Sunday.

George asked the presidential candidates to show concern for the lives lost to the flooding disaster ravaging several parts of the country by visiting the states affected.

He said: “If you are campaigning to win the hearts of the Nigerian people, anything that will affect their state of mind should be your major concern.

Because if you are going out campaigning, all you are telling people is trust me, I will manage the resources and the crisis of this country for your benefit.

“Once you have a major concern, an environmental disaster of this level, it calls to reason that people should be emphatic, people should show some concern for the lives and properties of the people they are wooing.”

The PDP chieftain also berated the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for campaigning in Edo State amid the ravaging flood that has displaced 12 communities in the state.

George wondered what kind of leader the former Vice President plans to become if he’s elected president if he cannot suspend his campaign.

He feels it was insensitive for Atiku to have campaigned in Edo in the first place despite Atiku announcing the suspension of his campaign after the rally.

Atiku Commences Tours Of Flood Impacted States

The PDP presidential candidate and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar will commence a tour of states with high incidents of flooding will commence a tour of states with high incidents of flooding across all geo-political zones in the country on Tuesday.

A press release by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, stated that the PDP presidential flag bearer shall be visiting Bayelsa State, to kickstart the tour.

One said the tours to states ravaged by flooding become incumbent in view of the trauma that the incidents have caused its victims.

He said the tours will provide Atiku the opportunity to have an on-sight impact assessment of these flooding incidents and give him a veritable window to input those ecological concerns in his policy documents.
