Chelsea Vs Man United: Casemiro’s Stoppage-Time Header Earns Red Devils A Point

Carlos Casimiro’s looping injury-time header won Manchester United a point in a gripping conclusion against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Jorge Luiz Frello Filho Cavaliere (Jorginho) converted Chelsea’s late penalty after substitutes Scott McTominay and Armando Broja collided at a corner three minutes into the stoppage time. It appeared as though Chelsea had snatched a win.

Casemiro rose to meet Luke Shaw’s cross deep into the sixth minute of stoppage time to earn the away side a point.

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga got a fingertip touch on the ball but was unable to prevent the ball from crossing the goal line as it rebounded from inside of the post.

Erik Ten Hag’s men losing at Stamford Bridge would have been harsh if Casemiro did not reply to Jorginho’s goal.

But the Red devils received a suitable reward for playing their socks off against the blues.

United had better opportunities and controlled the first half. They were significantly more dangerous without Cristiano Ronaldo in the lineup, with Kepa stopping shots from Marcus Rashford and Antony.

While United are concerned about Varane, who left the pitch in tears after fearing he will miss the World Cup due to a knock he picked, his team remains in fifth place, two points ahead of the Magpies and one point behind Graham Potter’s men.
