The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the National Chairman of the main opposition party, Iyorchia Ayu have arrived in Edo State.

Naija News had earlier reported that PDP will hold its presidential campaign in Edo State ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The former vice President arrived at the Benin City Airport alongside members of the PDP presidential campaign council.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shuaibu received Atiku at the airport.

Other top politicians, PDP officials and members were also in attendance.

Atiku was welcomed in Edo by cheering supporters of women and youth with drums to receive him as they chant his name in solidarity.

The PDP presidential candidate and his entourage visited the palace of the Oba of Benin, his royal majesty, Oba Ewuare II.

Atiku during the visit sought the blessings of the monarch for his ambition.

According to the former vice president, the monarch has a great role to play in providing leadership for the country.

The monarch while reacting to Atiku’s statement assured the presidential candidate of the prayers of his palace.
