The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has visited victims of flooded areas in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Naija News reports that Obi paid a visit to the victims a day after he met the State Governor, Samuel Ortom, at his Abuja residence and suspended his presidential campaign to sympathize with the victims of flooding across the country.

The former Governor of Anambra State was received by Tiv Chiefs, Labour Party chieftains and his supporters in the state.

Speaking with the victims in Makurdi, Obi said he needed to come to the state and see the extent of the damage caused by floods.

He said: “Even though I have offered my prayers to victims through your governor, I felt that coming in person to commiserate with you is important.”

Obi was accompanied by the Benue State Labour Party Chairman, Dr. Idoko Ibrahim and the House of Representatives candidate for the Apa/Agatu constituency, Melvin Ejeh.
