A group identified as the Great Nigeria 4 Obi-Datti has faulted the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for his alleged comment about his arrest by the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, when he was Anambra State governor.

Naija news reports that the group alleged that El-Rufai’s allegation was not true, adding that the comment could further worsen the insecurity in the country.

Recall that El-Rufai had accused Obi of arresting him when he was the Anambra state governor seeking a second term on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the time.

At the interactive session of the Arewa Joint Committee in Kaduna on Monday, El-Rufai said, “In 2013, I went to Anambra State as an official of the APC to witness the bye-election for the governorship.

“your next guest, Peter Obi, as governor, got me arrested and detained for 48 hours in my hotel room.

“Now I’m the Governor of Kaduna State and he’s coming to Kaduna.”

The group’s spokesman Tony Chukwuelue, while speaking to pressmen in Awka, accused El-Rufai of “fanning the embers of discord with a view to worsening insecurity in the country by allegedly playing divisive politics.”

According to Chukwuelue, the state of insecurity in Kaduna was on the increase, and President, Muhammadu Buhari, would have to declare a state of emergency in the state, adding that “the persistent shedding of innocent blood and wanton killings appear to have become the norm in the past seven and half years.”

He advanced that “first, El-Rufai denied Obi supporters the use of public facilities for their one million march. He has since gone on a full verbal rampage against Peter Obi.

“In a civilised nation, El-Rufai would have voluntarily tendered a letter of resignation of office as governor, having recorded the unbeatable record in Nigeria and the world of presiding over the affairs of the unsafest state where one cannot travel by road, by train, or by air.

“He was also the inventor of the disturbing Muslim-Muslim ticket as he broods no sensitivity towards the feelings of his subjects. In Kaduna today, kidnapping and killings have remained the norm rather than an exception,” Chukwuelue said.
