Family Of IVD’s Late Wife Reacts After Police Arrest ‘Abusive’ Husband

The family of Bimbo Ogbonna, the wife to popular Lagos businessman, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, also known as IVD, has reacted to the arrest of her ‘abusive’ husband by the Nigerian Police force. 

It would be recalled that the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyi, on Monday evening disclosed that IVD was arrested, contrary to claims by family and friends that he is on the run.

He added that the Lagos auto dealer has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

He said: “Contrary to claims by family and friends that 37-year-old Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD is on the run, he has been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.”

Reacting to the development, the deceased’s brother via his Instagram handle questioned the police on reasons why the family was not informed of the arrest of the businessman.

He further stressed that the police’s statement about the family claims on IVD whereabouts were wrong and one-sided.

He alleged that IVD had set up a committee for damage control to evade justice, adding that the world is watching.

“@benjaminhundeyin contrary to claims you say sir? Late Mrs Bimbo was in the hospital for days and the husband was nowhere to be found up until she died not a single word.

“When was this arrest effected by the Nigerian police that the family wasn’t informed. We the martins family has no knowledge of this said arrest and we can’t confirm it. All we know is Mr IVD has set up a committee for damage control to evade justice, which consist of Kemi oluloyo and Blessing Okoro.. the world is watching,” he wrote.

Bimbo’s Death

Bimbo’s death was announced by her sister in an Instagram post on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

The couple made headlines last week when Bimbo and her husband got into a scuffle and she reportedly set herself ablaze in the process at their home in Lekki, Lagos.

She was rushed to the hospital while her husband who sustained minor injuries allegedly absconded.

Bimbo was in the Intensive Care Unit of a Lagos hospital for some days but unfortunately gave up the ghost on Saturday morning.

Gist making the rounds online alleged that Bimbo has been suffering domestic violence from her husband for many years in their marriage.
