Columbia Defeated Flamingos On Penalty To Reach The U17 WWC Final

The Flamingos on Monday defeated Chile in the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India.

The Nigeria side gained three points in a 2-1 victory in Bhubaneswar.

Flamingos’ latest win sees them qualify for the quarter-finals of the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Blessing Emmanuel scored a goal for Nigeria in the 4th minute of the game, while Bisola Mosaku dashed in another goal eight minutes to the end of the match to see Nigeria through at the Kalinga Stadium.

The Nigeria side qualified for the next stage despite a late penalty converted by Roverner Tali.

The Flamingoes will play either USA or Brazil in the quarter-finals on Friday.

The Flamingos on Monday created a few opportunities that were not converted, but Head Coach Bankole Olowookere assured the team will get even better as the tournament progresses.

Olowookere said, “We missed a number of chances again, but I like the spirit of the team and we will get better as we go on in the competition.

“I am happy we made it into the last eight, and that we sustained our winning mentality despite the fact that we only needed a draw to sail through.”

Germany topped Group B with a maximum of nine points, while Nigeria finished with six points.
