The Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo, has warned Nigerians planning to move abroad to know that the country is not isolated from current global challenges.

Naija News reports that Keyamo was reacting to the massive protests on the streets of Paris, France, over the soaring price of goods.

In a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Monday, Keyamo said the soaring prices of foodstuffs and other goods in the country could be traced to the global crisis.

The minister said Nigeria is not isolated from present global issues, saying that relocating abroad is not the solution to the issue.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain said some politicians who know the global issues are also deceiving Nigerians and playing politics with it.

He wrote: “Massive protests on the streets of Paris over soaring prices. Meanwhile, some are still planning to ‘japa’ abroad, as if Nigeria is in isolation from present global issues. Some who know the issues are also deceiving Nigerians and playing local politics with global issues.”

Japa Phenomenon’: Amosun Backtracks, Denies Calling UK, US, Canada, Others ‘Wicked’

A former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has stated that his recent interview, where he said foreign countries granting Nigerians visas are wicked, was deliberately misrepresented.

Recall that Amosun had in an interview with BBC on Saturday reportedly described foreign countries as “wicked” for encouraging the emigration of Nigerian youths in large numbers.

According to the former Governor, countries giving visas to Nigerian accountants, lawyers, and medical practitioners do not consider the effect on Nigeria.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Bola Adeyemi, on Sunday, the lawmaker representing Ogun Central said the choice of the word “wicked” was the reporter’s and not his.
