The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been threatened with mass defection ahead of the 2023 general elections.

This coming after some members of the party indicated their intention to dump the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Not less than 100 members of the party in Boripe Local Government Area of the state led by Aremo Tunde Olawale have expressed their intentions to join PDP.

The aggrieved APC members disclosed that they are dumping the ruling party due to the low performance of the state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola who was defeated by the PDP in the latest governorship election in the state.

Aremo Olawale, who is from the same local government as Governor Oyetola said the decision of the APC to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023 stands against the principle of fairness, hence the decision to leave the party alongside his supporters.

According to Olawale, the ruling party lacks respect for the religious diversity of the country as the country is divided along ethnic and religious lines.

He added that Governor Oyetola who took over power in 2018 has performed below expectations.
