Former Super Eagles player, Rashidi Yekini has been awarded Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), on Tuesday.

Naija News reports that President Muhammadu Buhari awarded a posthumous national honour to the late Super Eagles’ all-time leading scorer.

Kwara state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, via his Twitter page, acknowledged the gesture made by the President and congratulated those who were awarded from the state.

He wrote: “I congratulate all the 12 outstanding personalities from Kwara who received different national awards today, October 11, 2022, from President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The late football legend Rashidi Yekeen and Chief Superintendent of Police Benedict Okoh Ajide were also conferred posthumously as MON.

The governor also commended the President for the award given to indigenes of the state.

He added: “On behalf of the people and the government of our state, I felicitate these outstanding personalities who — in their respective fields — have etched their names in gold. We similarly commend Mr President for finding these Kwarans worthy of national honour. Congratulations!”
