Later this October in Ibadan, a qualifier for the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations will see Tanzania battle against Nigeria’s Olympic team.

Naija News understands that Salisu Yusuf’s team will take a trip to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the first leg of the AFCON qualifiers.

A return leg for the qualifiers against Tanzania has been scheduled to hold at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on 29th of October.

Before the team’s U23 AFCON qualifying match against Tanzanian opponents, which holds on the last Saturday of this month, Naija news learnt that the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has secured Ibadan as the team’s camp base.

The Olympic Eagles’ preparation for their qualifying campaign will be aided by the ministry’s decision to secure the camp, according to Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who praised the move on Friday.

32 players have accepted Coach Salisu Yusuf’s invitation, and they will resume camping in Nigeria’s third-largest city this weekend.

Naija News recalls that the Olympic Eagles’ won the U23 AFCON in Senegal in 2015, and the year after that.

The team went on to take home the bronze medal at the Olympic Men’s Football Tournament in Brazil.
