Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been listed among the four forwards that can replace Ronaldo at Old Trafford if he leaves the club.
Naija News earlier reported that after Manchester City humiliated Manchester United by 6 goals to 3 in the Manchester derby on Sunday, the future of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford was once more pht in doubt, as rumours had it that the Portuguese striker might be permitted to leave the club in January.
Although in an updated story by Naija News during United’s UEFA Europa League (UEL) pre-match conference, Erik Ten Hag revealed to the reporters that the forward was happy at Old Trafford.
However, the Dutch boss will reportedly not stand in Cristiano Ronaldo’s way if he wants to leave in January.
In January, United will undoubtedly need to add another forward if Ronaldo is finally allowed to leave. Naija News identifies four possibilities.
Manchester United might instead concentrate on Ivan Toney of Brentford and take a closer look at the EPL. In an effort to fulfil his desire to play for England, the 26-year-old is capable of moving up to a top-six club and may even actively pursue one. United has long needed a younger centre-forward. Even though Toney won’t be cheap, The Manchester Club might go all in for him as a replacement.
In the closing hours of the summer transfer window, United pursued Antony, but Cody Gakpo of PSV was also a target.
It was widely reported that Manchester United could try to sign both (Antony and Gakpo) players and that the Dutchman was not an alternative to Antony. The 22-year-old is capable of playing in any forward position, including No. 9.
Nigerian International, Victor Osimhen was heavily linked to Manchester United during the summer transfer window. The Red Devils might have made a stronger effort to acquire the Super Eagles striker if they had not given priority to reinforcing their midfield and signing Antony.
Osimhen’s sale by Napoli in the final hours of the window was not ruled out, but the Italian club did slap a £100 million price tag on him. Given that Napoli was interested in signing Ronaldo, United would have the upper hand in any negotiations over the 22-year-old.
Tammy Abraham’s transfer might be the most improbable target United could attract in January.
The England international is a firm fan favourite at Roma and has frequently expressed how much he is enjoying his stay in the country.
United might shock the world with a move for the former Chelsea player.
