25 Dead As Bus Conveying Wedding Guests Falls Off The Road

A bus conveying 40-50 people, including men, women and children plunged 1600ft off a mountain in India leaving 25 people dead.

Naija News gathered that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night, October 4, 2022, in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district.

The bus was conveying wedding guests travelling back from Laldhang in the Haridwar district when it suffered a catastrophic fall off on the road.

The Police in a statement confirmed the development stating that at least 21 people have been saved following an overnight operation.

The statement reads: “Twenty five people were found dead in the Pauri Garwhal bus accident that took place last night in the Birokhal area of Dhumakot. Police and SDRF rescued 21 people overnight; the injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.

“Around 40-42 people were on the bus, including women and children. We are in continuous touch with the Pauri police and villagers. So far, 15-16 people have been rescued and sent to the nearest hospital.”

Housewife Murders Seven-month-old Stepdaughter

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old housewife, Lamratu Nasiru has been remanded in the Katsina Custodial Centre for allegedly murdering her step-daughter.

According to Punch, the suspect and her co-wife, Zabbau were fighting when the suspect allegedly hit the baby girl’s head with a stick.

The seven-month-old baby had sustained a serious injury from the blow and was rushed to the general hospital at Musawa, where she was confirmed dead by a certified medical doctor.

During the court proceedings at the Katsina Senior Magistrate Court on Tuesday, the police prosecutor, ASP Sani Ado, while giving a detailed narration of the incident said that the victim’s mother reported the case at the divisional police headquarters, Matazu, following which Lamratu was arrested.

The defendant is being charged with one count of culpable homicide in accordance with Section 189 of the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2021.
