Four Family Members Die After Eating 'Amala’ At Family House In Kogi

A family has been thrown into mourning in the Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State after four family members including a father, two children and a close relative died after allegedly eating a yam flour meal popularly known as Amala.

The victims Naija News learnt died one after the other between Friday, September 30, and Sunday, October 2nd, 2022.

A resident of the community who disclosed the incident to newsmen on Monday explained that the victims fell sick overnight after eating a meal at a family house.

He said they were all rushed to ECWA Hospital in Egbe for quick medical attention but could not all survive it. The incident reports have thrown members of the community into confusion as they are all calling for a quick investigation to unravel the mystery behind the death of the four family members.

The mother of the house who was simply identified as Molomo, who also partook in the meal is currently under close examination at ECWA Hospital Egbe.

Also, the burial of the victims was suspended after the community suspects foul play over their demise.

“We are really saddened with the mysterious death of these four family members after eating cassava flour ‘amala’.We suspect that someone may have poisoned the food. The community have decided to suspend thier burial pending the outcome of our investigation over their mysterious death. This has never happened in our land. It is strange,” a community member told Daily Post.
