Court Takes Fresh Action On Ayu's Suspension As PDP Chairman

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu has been blamed for the exit of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the party.

Recall that Obi upon his defection from PDP joined Labour Party (LP) and emerged as the party’s presidential candidate, while Kwankwaso joined New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and picked the presidential ticket of the party.

A chieftain of PDP, Mohammed Jamo, accused Ayu of being responsible for their defection during an interview on Channels TV.

This is coming at the time that four members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP returned monies paid into their account by Ayu.

According to Jamo, the PDP would have had a walk-over in the 2023 presidential election if Obi and Kwankwaso remained in the party.

He noted that the duo are now a force to contend with in the forthcoming election.

Jamo further stated that Ayu did not appropriately manage the issues that led to the exit of some prominent members from the party.

He said, “I have said my mind on the issue of Iyorchia Ayu even the last time I was a guest here. Mr Iyorchia Ayu needs to go.

“Today in Nigeria, we have four major political parties; before these four major political parties emerged, what we had were two political parties.”

Jamo claimed that Ayu’s errors led to the creation of the other political parties which are now competing with the PDP.
