Belgian’s Leandro Trossard on Saturday stunned Anfield crowd with a hatrick during an encounter between Liverpool and Brighton Albion.
Four minutes into the game, Trossard gave Brighton the lead with a skilful move to the left of the penalty spot and a low shot across Alisson Becker.
March’s cross would have made it 2-nil, but Alisson saved Welbeck’s header very close to the edge of the six-yard box.
Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino got a chance and worked the space for the shot by seating two defenders down, but the effort was blocked.
Another huge Alisson save to deny Trossard in the 13th minute could have made it 3 goals to nil, but the Brazilian denied all efforts.
It was seen coming with the number of shots and attempts on target created by the Seagulls as they found the pocket space between Liverpool’s midfield and defense very easy.
Danny Welbeck won it for Trossard as he slid it into the Red’s net a few minutes later.
A couple of good interceptions from Pervis and Joel at the back kept Liverpool out for a while, as Liverpool was looking for attempts to score.
Few minutes later Mohamed Salah was in the box when the ball reached him at the half hour mark but Sanchez denied him by making a stunning close-range save.
Firmino pulled one back with a goal which was initially ruled out for offside, but given after VAR made its decision.
Although it was a close call, Salah was in the right position as he approached Henderson’s shot and passed the ball to Firmino, who found the back of the net to score his fourth goal at Anfield this season.
Heading towards the half time, a lovely pass from Alexander-Arnold nearly gets Salah in, but he loses his balance.
After cutting inside Veltman to advance the ball down the left, Diaz supplied Firmino. To make it 2-2 in the 54th minute, he caught Duck off guard and tucked the ball away.
Hat-trick chance for Firmino at the far post, but heads Henderson’s cross down at Sanchez.
In the 60th minute, Welbeck had a chance to take the lead for his team, but he kicked thin air instead of the ball.
In the 63rd minute, an own goal by Liverpool brought the score to 3-2. Adam Webster bundled the ball into his own net as a result of uncertainty caused by Trent Alexander-corner.
After Mitoma sped by Trent and then Salah on the right, Fabinho intercepted a potentially harmful Brighton opportunity in the 72nd minute.
Trossard, the Belgian, leveled the score once again in the 83rd minute with a superb finish at the back post into Alisson’s net.
The visitors were able to earn a point at home thanks to Trossard’s sensational effort. Liverpool is currently 11 points behind league-leading Arsenal.
