Musa Amadu: I Will Contest For NFF Presidential Election

Former NFF General-Secretary and one of the 11 candidates running for president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Musa Amadu, has denied rumours that he has dropped out of the race.

Amadu said in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja stated that rumours that he had withdrawn from the election scheduled for Friday in Benin were malicious.

Adamu, urging his supporters not to fear, assured them of he is still very much in the race.

He said, “I, Musa Amadu will participate in the September 30 election.

“This notice becomes necessary following several rumours that I have pulled out from the presidential race. Nothing of such news emanated from me.

“I assure all my supporters that I will be contesting for the position of the President of Nigeria Football Federation in Benin City, Edo comes Friday, September 30.”

Recall that on September 15, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted an order postponing the NFF election.

In a judgement on an ex-parte application filed by the claimant’s counsel, Celsus Ukpong, Justice Inyang Ekwo directed NFF President, Amaju Pinnick; the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare or any other person acting in their direction to maintain the status quo.

According to him, this occurred in the interim while the motion on notice for interlocutory measures was heard and decided.

The plaintiffs in the lawsuit, the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, argued for equal participation for all five statutory entities that made up the NFF in terms of voting rights and representation on the NFF board.
