Burkina: Demonstrators Demand The Resignation Of President Damiba

Tens of people marched in the streets of Bobo-Dioulasso Thursday, September 29 to demand the resignation of Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba, president of the transition in Burkina Faso.

This movement was initiated by traders from the economic capital who paid tribute to those killed in the last attack in Gaskindé. Several traders had closed their shops to join the demonstration which was initially planned for Tiéforo Amoro Square according to local sources.

Finally, the protesters gathered in front of the central market to call for the departure of the president. These Burkinabés criticize the authorities for not providing an adequate response to the multiplication of terrorist attacks against citizens.

Indeed, the attack on the supply convoy rekindled the anger of the population against their authorities. At least eleven soldiers were killed in this attack by suspected jihadists on Monday in northern Burkina Faso, a toll which could however be much heavier, with around fifty civilians still missing. The numbers are still provisional.

Another particularly deadly attack targeted a supply convoy in the north of the country in early September. The explosion of a homemade device between Djibo and Bourzanga had caused the death of at least 35 civilians, including several children.
