Tinubu Absent As Presidential Candidates Sign Peace Pact

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, was conspicuously missing on Thursday as the presidential candidates signed the now-customary peace pact.

However, the APC vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, represented Tinubu at the occasion.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) amongst others were present at the signing.

The event, which was organised by the National Peace Committee, took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday.

According to the Chairman of NPC, Abdulsalami Abubakar, the peace accord was to promote peaceful electioneering.

Lawan Reacts To Court Ruling On Yobe North Senatorial Candidacy

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has reacted to the court declaration of Bashir Machina as the authentic senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe North.

Recall that the court declared Machina as the authentic candidate against the Senate President who is seeking the same ticket under the ruling party.

The court presided over by Justice Fatima Murtala Aminu on Wednesday held that Machina duly won the APC primary held on 28th May 2022 for the position.

She, however, ordered the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Machina as the candidate for Yobe North Senatorial District.

In a statement on Thursday, Lawan welcomed the court ruling which disqualified his candidature and participation in the senatorial primary election.

The Senate President said he would not appeal the judgment after due consultations with his family, political associates and supporters.

Ex-President Jonathan Hosts Peter Obi, Yusuf Datti

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, played host to Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Obi’s visit Naija News understands was to further his consultation ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The former governor of Anambra State took to his microblogging platform, Twitter on Thursday to confirm the visit to Jonathan.

The presidential hopeful said he and Baba-Ahmed briefed the former leader of their intention and also exchanged views on other issues of national interest.

Obi who shared photos on his Twitter page, thanked the former president for his wise counsel during the visit.

2023: APC Speaks On Party Crisis, Adamu Writing Letter To Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the alleged letter written by the party chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu to its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

It will be recalled that a leaked letter which went viral had emerged online on Thursday suggesting all is not well within the ruling party.

In the leaked letter, the APC National Chairman accused Tinubu of breaching the agreement he had with the National Working Committee (NWC) with regard to the composition of the presidential campaign council.

Adamu said the presidential candidate is operating solo whereas winning elections is supposed to be a collaborative effort.

However, the APC has in a swift reaction, denied any letter originated from the chairman to the presidential candidate on such an issue.

The denial was contained in a statement on Thursday issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka.

According to Morka, there is no disagreement between Adamu and Tinubu neither did the viral letter originate from the party chairman has been alleged.

2023 Presidency: Peter Obi Speaks On Losing Election

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 election, Peter Obi has spoken about his chances of winning next year’s election.

Asked during an interview on Wednesday with Arise TV about the possibility of losing the 2023 presidential election, Obi expressed confidence in emerging victorious.

The former Anambra State Governor stated that it is an election which can be likened to going into a match but he stressed that he is in the contest to win.

Obi added that even God will not allow him to lose because of the suffering Nigerians have passed through at the hands of previous administrations.

We Didn’t Threaten North With Igbo Presidency – Ohanaeze Tells NEF

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has distanced itself from a statement saying that Nigeria would not be secured and united unless an Igbo president emerges.

Naija News reports that the factional Secretary General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isuguzoro, had in a statement on Tuesday said that Nigeria would not be secured and united unless an Igbo president emerges.

Reacting in a statement on Wednesday, Northern Elders Forum (NEF) condemned the statement in its entirety and asked the Ohanaeze to stop threatening Nigerians with the Igbo Presidency.

But in a swift response, Ohanaeze advised the Northern elders not to take as serious any statements from people bent on disgracing the apex Igbo body.

In a statement on Wednesday by the group’s spokesman, Alex Ogbonnia, Ohanaeze dissociated itself from the purported comment made by Isiguzoro.

He stated that the leadership of the Igbo body was not in doubt, and asked the Northern elders to dismiss comments made by Isiguzoro in the future.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said he is strong and ready to campaign across the country.

Naija News reports that there have been debates and speculations over the physical health of the former Lagos State Governor ahead of a demanding campaign schedule.

However, in a statement on Wednesday, the APC Presidential candidate promised to personally take his campaign promises to every part of the country.

Tinubu noted that the nation stands at a threshold of history and that Nigerians cannot afford to get this wrong, asking the citizens to learn from the mistakes of the past.

He, however, asked Nigerians to join him and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, on the campaign journey as the ruling party set its shared vision of Renewed Hope for the Nigerian people.

Wike vs Ayu: We Refuse To Be Distracted By Any Drama – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has vowed not to be distracted by any drama in his quest to rescue Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the PDP presidential candidate was reacting to a press statement by a NEC member, Chinemerem Madu, who alleged that the party leaders including some NEC members behind the PDP crisis have received money to continue to fuel disagreements.

Madu added that the calls for the resignation of the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu are just a distraction while the main target of those behind the crisis is to frustrate the ambition of Atiku Abubakar.

Madu said the unnamed national vice chairman has confessed to receiving huge cash to frustrate Atiku’s bid and disrupt the party’s presidential campaigns.

While reacting to the press statement by Madu, Atiku through the Presidential Spokesman, Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organisation, Daniel Bwala, said the PDP has moved on and its focused on the 2023 election.

APC: Amaechi Is Angry, May Boycott Tinubu’s Appointment – Insider Reveals

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may again suffer another crack as the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, is reportedly aggrieved over some decisions taken by the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Naija News learnt that the former Governor of Rivers State feels jilted by the party leadership and its presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and may reject his appointment as the Special Adviser on Infrastructure of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

Recall that Amaechi was one of the top contenders for APC’s presidential ticket in June 2022, but the former governor came second in the polls to fall behind Tinubu.

Amaechi has not been proactive after the conduct of the party’s national convention and presidential primaries which produced Tinubu as APC’s presidential flagbearer.

However, Amaechi was recently listed as a member of the constituted Presidential Campaign Council( PCC) to pilot the Tinubu/Shettima ticket for the forthcoming election.

Sources, however, in the know have told newsmen that the former minister may reject the appointment as he felt let down by Tinubu.

2023: Atiku Does Not Have Same Electoral Value As Buhari

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has described the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, as a lightweight politician.

Naija News reports that Oshiomhole stated this on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The former Governor of Edo State said Atiku does not have the same electoral value as President Muhammadu Buhari in the North and other parts of the country.

According to Oshiomhole, the former Vice President has been tested and failed during the administration her served under.

Speaking further, Oshiomhole said the ruling party will benefit from the support base of President Buhari in the 2023 elections because many people still respect and believe him.

2023: Tinubu Has Paid His Dues Over Decades – Nnamani

Former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has paid his dues over the decades.

The Senator representing Enugu East said Tinubu has performed well as a former governor and as a politician, stressing that he has also contributed to the development of the nation.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Nnamani asserted that Tinubu’s excellent performance whilst in power got him the APC presidential ticket.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also said the Igbo cannot unite and take power because they have allowed themselves to be easily compensated.
