The co-founder of a popular Lagos eatery, (Bukka Hut), Laolu Martins, has reportedly committed suicide.

Naija News reports that this was disclosed by a Nigerian journalist, Eniola Daniel, in a post shared on the microblogging platform, Twitter.

According to him, a friend and some sources alleged that Laolu committed suicide at 3 am on Wednesday in the Lekki area, Lagos State but he would not state the reason for his action online.

He tweeted: “Founder of Bukka Hut, commits suicide. The founder of Bhukka hospitality limited, Laolu Martins was said to have committed suicide around 3.a.m today in Lekki, Lagos. So sad.

“A friend of his and other sources claimed he committed suicide for a reason I don’t want to state here.”

The family of the deceased also confirmed the sad incident in a statement, soliciting the support and understanding of everyone as they mourn Laolu.

The statement reads: “We hereby solicit the support and understanding of everyone as the family grieves the loss of our beloved Laolu in our privacy.

“Our kind request is that you support the family – wife, children, aged mother and father and his siblings with your prayers at this difficult time. Further announcements will be made by the family.”
