There's No President-elect, It Was Daylight Robbery By INEC - Pa Adebanjo Rejects Tinubu

The spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, has berated the leader of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo, for his support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

Naija News reports that Keyamo was reacting to Afenifere’s justification of its endorsement of the former Governor of Anambra State for the 2023 Presidency.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Monday, Adebanjo said the group would not support the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

However, in an interview with reporters on Monday evening, Keyamo accused Adebanjo of promoting his agenda against the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Keyamo said Adebanjo is free to support anyone he likes in furtherance of his democratic right, adding that the elder statesman does not speak for the Yorubas.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment added that Adebanjo is just a factional member of Afenifere, stressing that there was no time the Yoruba group met to endorse Obi.

Keyamo maintained that he stood by an earlier statement released by his colleague, Bayo Onanuga, on the position of Afenifere, which described Adebanjo’s endorsement of Obi as a personal decision.

He said, “We stand by the statement issued on Sunday by our campaign council media director. Afenifere is not the mouthpiece of the Yoruba. The release comprehensively addressed the matter.

The issue is that the Afenifere in question is just Pa Adebanjo trying to project his personal bias against Asiwaju. He is not pursuing any pan-Yoruba act of patriotism as claimed. No, he is not.

“Besides, his view is not the position of the entire Afenifere. He is just a factional member of the group. We are aware that there was no time Afenifere met to take such a decision.”
