Over 200 PDP Supporters, Chieftain Defect To APC In Delta

More Are Coming- Says PDP Women Leader As She Dumps Party For APC

No fewer than two hundred supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reportedly withdrawn their membership in Delta State, Naija News learnt.

Reports made available to newsmen on Saturday said the politicians were led by a chieftain of the umbrella party, Prince Gabriel Nwanazia, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors lamented the activities of the PDP, saying they decided to opt out of the party to APC as a result of the unending crisis in the former camp.

Naija News understands that Nwanazia and his followers were received into APC on Saturday at the Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

“I am a strong PDP mobiliser, a great supporter but today I decided to move my over two hundred supporters to APC,” said Nwanazia while expressing his bitterness toward the former party.

He added: “PDP does not keep an agreement, I have worked for PDP over the years, I have delivered for PDP in all elections in Aniocha North.

“Today, no development in our area, some of the things here were done by APC. Crisis everywhere in the party”

In his remark, while presenting the defectors to the leadership of the party, the only serving APC councillor in Delta State, Emmanuel Oweazim, said Nwanazia was a problem to the APC in the local government during elections in the past.

He said: “2023 is the end of PDP in Delta state, one of our problems during election period had joined APC today and a lot of persons are expected to join APC soon.

“Crisis has made PDP lose one of its henchmen and by the time Omo-Agege emerged in 2023, I will no longer be the only councillor in the state”

Receiving the defectors, the Aniocha North APC Chairman, Mathew Chinye, Adizue Elueaka and House of Assembly candidate of the party, Bazim Boise, noted that the defection of youth mobiliser, Nwanazia, in Delta politics marked the end of PDP in the state.
