A Nigerian Boston Celtics coach, Ime Udoka is facing disciplinary action for having an affair with a staff member.

The 45-year-old coach has been married to Hollywood actress Nia Long since 2010.

According to a Wednesday night report by ESPN, the Nigerian coach faces possible suspension for the intimate affairs considered to be a violation of the organization’s guidelines.

While no final decision has been made, internal discussions have included scenarios that would keep Udoka out for the entirety of the 2022-23 season, sources said.

However the source said that there are no indications that Udoka job is in serious jeopardy.

Udoka’s top assistant coach, Will Hardy, left to become coach of the Utah Jazz, and another Jazz finalist, Celtics assistant Joe Mazzulla, would likely be in serious consideration for an interim role, sources told ESPN.

According to ESPN Stats & Information research, Udoka is the first rookie coach to win multiple Game 7s in his first postseason.

Udoka joined the Celtics last summer after spending time with the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets as an assistant coach following his NBA playing career.

He led Boston to victories over the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference semifinals and the Miami Heat in the East finals in seven games before Boston lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games in the NBA Finals.
