English premier league player who plays as a midfielder for Arsenal, Bukayo Saka, has won the England Men’s Best Player for the 2021-22 season.

The 21-year-old player earned the award following impressive stats at both club and country, Naija News understands.

The award came as a surprise for the young player as he expressed shock after he was handed the win. Saka had only made nine international appearances this season for the Three Lions and recorded three goals.

Recall that the Gunners also won the man-of-the-match award last September after a brilliant performance during England’s 4-0 victory against Andorra on his birthday.

“No way! I did not expect this, honestly. I’m honoured,” Saka said in disbelief while interacting with pundits.

Naija News understands that Saka won the latest award ahead of his senior colleagues in the national team, the likes of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

The award is Saka’s first in his national career. The feat was announced on the Facebook page of the England national team with a picture of Saka holding the award with a caption that reads; “Congratulations to Bukayo Saka – your England Men’s Player of the Year connected by EE!.”

In the completed summer, Saka recorded a total of 17 goals and 8 assists for both Arsenal and England’s national team.
