2023: Wike Has An Agreement With Tinubu To Destroy PDP - Party Youths

A youth group within the Peoples Democratic Party known as the national youth vanguard has alleged that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reached a secret deal with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work against the party in the 2023 presidential elections.

The allegation was made on Friday in a statement issued by the national coordinator of the group, Bala Aboki at the end of its meeting in Kano State.

The statement said Wike has the habit of always going against the PDP National Chairmen for his own selfish interests and urged the leadership of the party to ignore the Rivers State Governor, going into campaigns for 2023.

It added that the current call by Wike for Iyorchia Ayu to resign as the national chairman of the PDP is a mere distraction for him to execute his plans against the party.

Aboki alleged further that Wike is not fighting for anybody but planning a soft landing for himself after the expiration of his tenure in 2023 hence all the unnecessary noise he is making about the election.

“We have been made aware of an agreement entered into between the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the former Lagos State Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to destroy the PDP from within in exchange for his protection when he leaves office in 2023,” the statement reads.

“Nigerians need to know that the concern of Governor Wike is not the interest of the South as been postulated by him and his friends, but a personal battle to cover up his misdemeanours.

“In the first instance, why is Governor Wike always at the forefront of championing the removal of party chairmen at any given opportunity? Recall that in 2016 after the loss of the PDP in the 2015 general elections, it was Governor Wike who orchestrated the installation of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as chairman of the party who nearly destabilized the party, except for the Supreme Court ruling of July 12, 2017.

“In the 2017 National Convention of the party, the same Governor Wike, denied Chief Bode George, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola and others from the South West from producing the National Chairmanship of the party when the PDP zoned the position to the south, and championed the installation of his brother, Prince Uche Secondus as Chairman of the party.

“Before Prince Secondus could complete his tenure, Governor Wike again moved for his removal in order to pave way for his personal and selfish interest of campaigning for a southern president and later installed Senator Iyorchia Ayu as Chairman of the party. Today, the same Governor is calling for the removal of Senator Ayu. Is he the only person in the PDP?”

The PDP youth vanguard called on the leadership of the party and the presidential candidate to ignore Wike and go ahead with its scheduled campaigns.

I Remain Committed To PDP

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has insisted that despite the disagreement with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would support the candidate of his party, Atiku Abubakar.

Governor Wike made the declaration despite the current face-off between his camp and the PDP during a live media chat with journalists on Friday at the Government House In Port Harcourt.

Asked directly which presidential candidate he feels should lead the country in 2023, Wike replied that he remains in PDP and his allegiance remains with his party and its candidate.

He pointed out that he can’t be in the PDP and be campaigning for the candidate of another political party.
