Police Arraign Chinese Man Who Killed Kano Lover
The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arraigned a Chinese citizen, Geng, before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in the state capital over the killing of his former woman friend, Ummakulsum Sani Buhari.
Naija News recalls that there was outrage in the Janbullo area of Kano last Friday after the foreigner stormed the house of his former lover and stabbed her to death.
Geng was reported to have carried out the heinous act at about 7 pm on Friday after forcefully gaining entrance to the deceased’s apartment.
The victim, Ummukulsum was said to have graduated from Kampala University in Uganda and was observing the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Sokoto when the incident happened.
Acting on the incident, Police on Wednesday charged Geng with only one-count charge of culpable homicide.
Reports gathered that Geng and Ummukulsum had a sizzling relationship for two years before the 23-year-old got married to another man within Kano.
Ummukulsum’s marriage, however, reportedly ended so soon and she had to return to her family house to continue her normal life.
A source in the know who pleaded anonymity told Daily Post that Geng felt jilted by the lady and hence forced his way into their compound, sneaked into her room and slaughtered her in cold blood.
While trying to escape the scene, Geng got arrested by a mob who later handed him to the police.
